Pocket Watch Memory Locket Project
Pocket watches always make me feel a bit nostalgic. For this project, I decided to play on the motif of nostalgia as a writer. I dropped in an antique pen nib and a token that said “story” to remind me of the fundamentals of writing and art — to get your work onto the blank page. With some shabby chic details, this memory locket is a reminder to put my passion and creativity to work, one page at a time.
Pocket Watch Memory Locket Project Directions:
Paint front and back piece of pocket watch with Umber paint.
Use gel medium to attach a Bella Rouge journaling card to the back piece of the pocket watch. Trim to fit.
Assemble pocket watch. Lay down back piece, then stack two dark pieces on top, then finish with the cherry hardwood top piece. Glue and use clothespins to hold it in place while it dries.
Fill pocket watch with bits of ephemera and embellishments. Remove cover from acrylic piece and glue over the top.
Attach ribbon to hang or use as a necklace.
