|Editor Position for Leading Art & Crafting Publisher
|Do you have a passion for the art and crafting industry with a penchant for writing, copyediting, and handling art? If you live in the vicinity of Southern Orange County, California, we'd like to speak with you! At Stampington & Company, as publisher of top art and craft publications in the U.S., we are looking to add to our editorial team.
We are seeking a person who is extremely well-organized, focused, productive, a skilled writer, has a strong eye for art, the ability to proactively network within the artistic community to recruit quality artwork, and able to exude professionalism and poise within a fast-paced office. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled communicator (email and telephone) with substantial experience with instructional writing and editing. Crafting and/or design experience and knowledge of the paper arts industry are a plus. Prior experience in publishing is preferred.
The editor reports to the senior managing editor and is responsible for managing several magazine titles, overseeing each publication's production from start to finish. Duties include soliciting editorial content, organizing artwork selections, coordinating photo shoots, working with freelance artists and writers to produce articles and columns, writing, copyediting, and final proofreading. The editor is also responsible for supporting the editorial department as needed. We seek a candidate who has the professional humility to help with all aspects -- both big and small -- in order for the publishing division to function efficiently and prosperously.
This is a full-time entry-level position. Salary depends on experience, qualifications, and eye for art. Please submit your resume, a cover letter that includes your salary history, and three writing samples to Editor-In-Chief Christen Hammons. Applicants who do not follow instructions will not be considered for this position.
No phone calls, please.
