The Raven Project by Sarah Donawerth

No reviews yet

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore —

While I nodded, nearly napped, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.” — Edgar Allan Poe, “The Raven”

And so announces the raven that will torment this young reader. Whenever I think of Halloween, I am reminded of that little bird and its ability to torment just by being in the room. In this homage to Edgar Allan Poe, we’ve given his raven a prominent place and set the stage for his spine-chilling poem.

The Raven Project Directions:

Paint the back panels of the triptych with black paint. Let dry.

Enamel the front panels of the triptych with Pewter Relique Powder. For a more mottled look, hold the heat gun very close to the surface, heat it up quickly, and don’t allow all the crystals to melt.

Back each panel with orange patterned paper. Cut out Edgar Allan Poe portrait from the Tim Holtz paper pad and adhere to the center panel. Use a scrap from the paper pad to make photo corners and attach them to the Poe portrait.

Glue the raven clip art to the side panel and attach “never” and “more” Chitchat word stickers.

Computer generate the first line of “The Raven” (in Courier New font to match the word stickers) and adhere to the other side panel.

Use the Stabilo All Marking Pencil to outline each word.

Hot glue the top panels in place.
