Begin by painting the paper mache coffins (in the size of your choice) with two coats of chalkboard paint and set aside to dry. Vanessa suggests the medium sized coffin as the perfect palette for an invite.
Once the coffins have dried, prime the chalkboard surface by rubbing it with chalk. Then, using a chalkboard marker, write event details (like time, place, and location) onto the coffin lid. Vanessa prefers to pen with marker over chalk because the color is more vibrant, it lasts longer, and doesn't easily rub off.
Once you're satisfied with your script, fill the coffin with sinisterly tasty Halloween candy, supernatural toys, or even a hand drawn map to the event. Close the coffin and wrap with black organic cotton striped ribbon for a finishing touch to an eerie and adorable invitation.
