Pumpkin Woman Collage Project by Barbara Smith

To create the paper doll, use black inkand stamp pumpkin head image and bodice image from the Bird & Bee Paperie No. 3 stamp, and shoes from the Queen of Tarts No. 3 set on cream paper and color with pencils. Stamp skirt image from the French Laundry No. 6 set on patterned paper and attach to other stamped, colored pieces. Attach some vintage lace to the bottom of the skirt. Apply a cancelled postage stamp to a brass locket. Attach locket, velvet leaf, and ribbon to pumpkin lady.

Make a copy of a vintage ledger page. Layer on various styles of other vintage papers. Apply stamped images and paint. Stitch around some of the paper edges with a sewing machine. Place pumpkin lady on background where you plan to attach her and trace around the outside edge lightly with a pencil. Remove pumpkin lady and using watercolor crayons, add color around the pencil lines for a shadow effect, blending with your fingers.

*You may also add some color around the outside edges of the collage too. Attach pumpkin lady with foam tape. Apply vintage buttons.
