Adventures in Alterables Project
The other day during an art selection we started talking about these great Amazing Alterables by PaperWhimsy. We’ve had a few artists submit their own versions, and they looked so fun that I just had to give them a try! I’m used to doing most of my work on a flat, rectangular surface, like a journal page or canvas, so this was a bit of a challenge for me, but it did bring me back to my days of sitting on the floor playing with paper dolls.
Adventures in Alterables Project Instructions:
To begin, I painted the doll's legs with Broken China Distress Paint. The dabber made it very easy to apply the paint.
I then painted part of the man’s arms and torso with Antique Linen Distress Paint. To add a bit of interest, I tore pieces of Melange Tissue Wrap and glued it to the legs.
Next, I stamped Recommendation by Carin Andersson onto the legs and Honeycomb by Christine Adolph onto the arms with Tuxedo Black StazOn ink.
To finish, I added a gold-painted birdcageand a pink-painted bird. The final touch was a bit of vintage text.
Once everything was dry, I glued the pieces together with Diamond Glaze. If you want your doll’s joints to have a bit of movement, you can use brads or wire to secure the pieces together.
