Like many of you, the arrival of this season is something I look forward to every year. I count down the days until the sun starts to set a little earlier and the air gets a little cooler. Unfortunately, in Southern California, the first day of the season often greets us with lingering heat — sometimes even a full-blown heat wave. Still, I like to mark the change on the calendar, not only for myself but also for loved ones who find joy in this time of year. What better way to celebrate than with a candle and soap infused with comforting scents that capture everything we love about autumn?
To make these gifts extra special, wrap the candle and soap with a strip of ribbon, securing it on the bottom with tape. Wind twine around each piece and knot it, then tuck in a dried orange slice or two. Add a bundle of cinnamon sticks and finish with a star anise pod for a fragrant, festive touch.
