Stitched Fridas Project
“I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.” — Frida Kahlo
These scribbly stamps by Dina Wakley are inspired by Frida Kahlo’s many self-portraits and capture the strength of this iconic woman. These cards have a bit of cross-stitched thread to further emphasize the bright, Mexican folk art and textiles that Kahlo was famous for.
Stitched Fridas Project Directions:
Stamp each Frida design onto spare cardstock with brown ink.
Set each piece of cardstock on top of a piece of cardboard or foam and poke holes for the embroidered design with a sharp stick or with a yarn needle.
Thread the Artist Paper. Add a sentiment from the stamp set to the corner of the card.
