No reviews yet

Guest artist Rae Missigman used her stencil, Nonsensical Bloom, to create this vibrant and energetic art journal spread.

Techniques Featured in this Video:

Cut and collage large shapes of collected papers onto the journal page.

Finger paint with magenta, lemon, and blackberry violet acrylic paint to add large blocks of color. Brush on water to move paint around.

Add sticker shapes and define edges with bold Night acrylic paint.

Apply paint through the Nonsensical Bloom stencil with a Mini Ink Blending Tool.

Use pencil and white acrylic paint to define edges of stencil petals.

Add a top layer of white paint over the already colored page. Scratch into the wet paint to reveal the colors underneath.

Apply paint to stamp with finger in random places for a sanded looking imprint.

Create contrasting circles using white and black markers and pens.

Make stenciled images pop by adding swipes of India ink applied with a water brush.

Add final detail marks as filler using black and white pens.

TIPS:

Use stickers to add quick shapes that have lots of color.

Place two paint colors side by side on palette before sponging through stencil for a variegated look.
