Little Reminders Journal Page Project

UPC:

After seeing the Tiny Text Stamp Set and being charmed by all the thoughtful, inspiring sentiments, I knew I wanted to use them to create an encouraging and uplifting art journal page. Like many of you, I tend to hold on to just about every scrap of paper I come across or create, so rather than create a background completely from scratch, I went through the leftover paper pieces from this card making project and found one that I thought would make a good jumping-off point.

Materials List:

Instructions

I cut the artist paper to the size of a journal page, and used gel medium to adhere it in place. I dry-brushed white gesso onto the page to tone down a little of the color. For additional interest, I scribbled onto a textured rubber stamp with a brown Distress Crayon, sprayed it with a bit of water to activate it, and lightly stamped the design onto the page.

For the focal image, I wanted to show a strong woman, so I selected one from Dina Wakley’s Collage Paper Faces collection, and used gel medium to adhere it to the page, applying an additional layer of it on top of the image. Next, I chose a couple sentiments and stamped them onto paper scraps, layered them with black cardstock, and adhered them to the page. For additional interest, I sprinkled spray ink onto the page, and used pink acrylic paint to add color to the woman’s face.
