While Valentine's Day is the perfect day to tell that special someone you love them, I find that each day we have with those we love is a great time to share our hearts and special sentiments with our family and friends. Wooden houses create not only the perfect background for a bit of chalkboard paint, but also remind us that home really is where the heart is.

Begin by painting all three houses with white acrylic paint. Once the white paint has dried, paint a rustic rectangle onto the front center of each house, and allow to dry. Once the chalkboard paint has dried proceed to shade the edges of the houses using a black colored pencil. To the sides and roof the house, add your favorite sentiments regarding love and/or family. Adding a heart cut from cardstock to the roof also adds an extra touch.

Add other embellishments to your houses such as buttons, keys, polka dots etc. Remember these are meant to reflect not only your style, but also your creativity. Let your voice come through or create this project exactly how we have shown it – the sky is the limit here! Add a few words of love to each house, or perhaps a saying stretched across the three.
