UPC:

Simplicity often speaks volumes when inspiration is sought. Journaling cards created with Character Constructions Mannequin Café bring dreams to life and serve as the perfect prompts when stamped onto postcard sized watercolor paper.

Tools and Supplies:

  • Journaling Cards (approx 5 ¼ x 3 ½ inches)
  • Character Construction Stamps Mannequin Café Clear Stamps
  • White and Crème Acrylic Paint
  • Silver Crackle Paint by Ranger
  • Black Ink
  • Assortment of colored pencils and watercolor crayons
  • Paper Adhesive
  • Sandpaper
  • Silk Ribbon
  • Scrap of French Ephemera
  • 1/8 Yard fabric (for lining)
  • Fabric Glue or Glue Gun

How to Create Your Cards:

Begin by preparing each card with a thin layer of white or crème paint. Once your paint has dried stamp the images onto the card using a dye based ink. Add random markings such as polka dots and hatch marks to each card. I created with colored pencils, crackle paint, acrylic paint and watercolor crayons. Finally add words that inspire you. Keep the back of the cards blank as when in the mood to journal this is the perfect place to do just that.

How to Alter Your Box:
With sandpaper lightly sand you box, removing any sharp edges. Using White acrylic paint (or color of your choice) paint the exterior and interior of the box. Set aside to dry. Once dry add a streamer of ribbon to the lid gluing the ends to the inside of the lid. Now line the inside of the lid and box with the fabric of your choice, I used silk shantung. To do this use either fabric glue or a low heat glue gun (too high of heat might burn your fabric). To the lid add a bit of French Ephemera. Finally add your cards and enjoy your journaling journey.
