Monthly Ephemera Drawer Project

UPC:

Inspired by a library drawer project that artist Mou Saha made for 7gypsies, I created something similar using the 7gypsies Library Drawer and bright, vibrant colors. To decorate the monthly cards, I used the Eco Green Crafts Acrylic Paints: Raspberry, Waterfall and Orange. I watered each paint color down by mixing one part paint with two parts water. Watering the paint down allowed me to produce a watercolor effect, and I alternated between the three colors for the 12 monthly cards. I also used the same colors (without watering them down) to paint some pieces of cardstock, which I then placed in a random fashion in the drawer to use as extra journaling cards.

On the tab of each monthly card I did some decorative drawing (or doodles). I tried to do a small doodle that was somewhat seasonal for some of the months that inspired it—for May I did flowers, February hearts, etc. You can also try decorating the monthly file cards using stamps. For January, I stamped the Wrought Scroll Wood Mounted Stamp on the bottom, left corner of the card. On some of the inner journaling cards, I stapled a Slide File Card to add a little vintage touch.

As the months pass, the idea is to add your personal ephemera from that month into its file destination. This might include any scraps or memories—from ticket stubs, postcards and birthday cards to pictures, a coaster from a restaurant or just about anything else you come across in your daily travels! Once the year has come and gone, you can easily transfer the ephemera from each month into a scrapbook or album and then begin another fresh ephemera drawer for the New Year.

Other inspiring ideas for the Library Drawer… use it for recipes, names and addresses or art journaling projects!
