Artful Craft Tote Project
I used the large craft totefor my project. Begin by turning pieces of patterned paper from the Radiant collection into canvas. You can learn how to do that by watching our FREE how-to video. The Radiant paper is 6" x 12" so I just cut the pieces of 12" x 12" canvas in half to match the paper size. I used the Tim Holtz scissors by tonic as they will cut nicely through the thick canvas. Once the canvas is dry, paint over it with Matte Collage Pauge and allow to dry again. Cut thin strips of denim (I used old jeans) and glue around the edges of the outside pockets using a fabric glue. Then trim the canvas pieces if necessary and glue onto the outside pockets.
Sew a few simple stitches as needed to ensure the canvas and denim is secured. Cut the pieces of scalloped edged canvas using the red polka dot design and glue those around the top edge of the bag. Using the pink polka dot and music sheet papers (that were turned into canvas also) and some more denim, cut some various sized circles and sew a button in the center. Before you sew them onto the bag add a few stitches at the back of the flower to create a gathered effect, and then sew three flowers onto one side of the bag. Add some strips of velvet ribbon as needed. Use your tote for craft supplies and much more!
