Feathers, Lace, and Watercolors Burst Project
These cards began with a neutral color scheme, and were pretty, but uninspired. I mixed these simple cards with Color Burst watercolors and they came to life. No longer drab, these cards were bursting with color and were still elegant and textured.
Feathers, Lace, and Watercolors Project Directions
Cut sheets of watercolor paper to size. Randomly adhere vintage book text with gel medium, and add dry brush on gesso. Let dry.
Stamp feathers and birds onto the text paper with permanent black ink.
Stamp letters onto two cards with permanent black ink.
Sprinkle some blue and green Color Burst onto a non-stick craft sheet or palette and spritz with water. Use a brush to apply color to the background. Add more or less water to create drips or to enhance colors. Or, color in the bird using a watercolor brush. Let dry, or use a heat tool to speed up drying.
Cut Handmade by Somerset scalloped lace into assorted sizes, and thread with Indigo jute twine. Add scraps of lace to each card with gel medium or glue dots.
