Color Burst Basics How-to Video by Carolyn Dube
Watch as artist Carolyn Dube demonstrates the basics of how to use Ken Oliver’s Color Bursts. These lightweight powders pack a colorful punch — just add water.
Techniques Featured in this Video:
Add a small amount of powder to watercolor paper, and then spray with water. Watch as the color comes alive. Use your paintbrush to spread the paint around. Because the paper is already wet, it will activate the powder.
Add a burst of green and yellow powders. Spritz with more water.
Pick the paper up, and allow the paint to drip across the paper.
Repeat using different colors.
Use leftover color from your paintbrush to add color to the paper. Add a variety of colors, spritz with water, and move the paint around with a paintbrush.
