9am - 5pm PST, Mon. - Fri.
Working on our newest release, A Somerset Halloween, really got me excited about the upcoming spooky season. It seems like each year, more and more people are decorating for the holiday and doing so months in advance. I felt the urge to make something that felt both sweet and spooky, and once I saw all the different projects featuring ghosts popping up on Instagram, I knew I wanted to do something that incorporated them.
The Tim Holtz entomology-inspired collage paper, which features text and insects, was the perfect design to use as the background for my ghosts. First, I used gel medium to adhere the collage paper to a piece of cardstock. Next, I applied a layer of gel medium over the tissue paper, and let dry. I drew ghost shapes onto the collage paper, and cut them out. If you’d rather use a template, there are plenty of them available online. I sponged black ink onto the ghosts, and used black acrylic paint for their eyes. Once everything was dry, I glued the ghosts to a gift bag with a glue stick. To finish, I applied brown and black ink to stickers and affixed them to the bag, and added a few faux stitches using a black pen.
