Who You Are Canvas Project
Inspired by Pam Carriker’s new book, "Creating Art at the Speed of Life", I chose to create my own, one-of-a-kind canvas.
Who You Are Canvas Project Instructions:
Randomly collage a blank canvas board with an assortment of paper from Prima Marketing’s Epiphany 6 x 6 paper pad and Something Blue A4 paper pad. Cut a scallop border, punch or cut out various sized circles, and add a long strip down the right side of the canvas. Once satisfied, attach the pieces to the background with gel medium, and let dry. Use Ranger Ink’s Heat-It Craft Tool to help speed up the drying process.
Next, create a white wash by mixing some white gesso and water. Use a paintbrush to apply the wash and tone down the patterns and colors of the papers. Let dry completely.
Add layers with Dina Wakley’s heavy-body acrylic paints. For this project, I used Turquoise and Lemon. Apply the paint with your fingers and the Mini Ink Blending Tool. I chose not to change the foam pad between colors, which added a nice green tone to the background. Use your fingers to add swipes of Magenta paint for a pop of color. You can choose to completely cover the collaged papers with paint or let some of the paper show through. Once you’re done, let the paint dry completely.
Stamp two strips of Prima Marketing’s Epiphany stamp using permanent black ink, one across the middle and one at the bottom. Paint over the stamped text with a gesso wash to tone it down.
To add some contrast, apply swipes of white gesso using the blending tool. Stamp white dots of gesso into the smaller circles using the blending tool.
Replace the foam pad on the Mini Ink Blending tool and dab the foam with Black Soot from Tim Holtz’s Distress Ink Mini. Stencil texture into the smaller circles using Storytime Stencil by Seth Apter. Use the heat tool to speed up drying and to prevent smearing.
Using the same foam pad on the blending tool, add words using Dina Wakley Affirmations Media Stencil. Use the heat tool to dry each line before stenciling the next, otherwise it will smear.
Outline the circles and scallops with Faber Castell’s Stamper’s Big Brush Pen in Warm Grey. Add the dots and words from Kaisercraft Rub-Ons Secret Bird Society Black down the long strip.
Remember the scallops you cut out at the beginning? Use the remnants from the initial paper and stencil scalloped-boarders using the ink blending tool and some white acrylic paint. Change the foam pad on the ink blending tool and stencil scallops in the same manner across the top using black gesso and Magenta acrylic paint for added interest. Add random swipes of black gesso along the edges. Outline the black scallops with pens from the Faber-Castel’s essential Mix and Match Pitt Artist Pen Set.
With the Crafter's Workshop Specimen Stencil, randomly stencil circles using the foam pad you used to stamp the white scalloped boarders.

Mail Forwarded by the Post Office
If you forward mail to your new address through the Post Office, it won't apply to periodicals/your magazine subscription unfortunately. Also, since mail forwarding only lasts for a short time-frame, we request that you still notify us of your address change to prevent any service interruption to your subscription.
Stampington & Company cannot be held responsible for replacing "lost" issues from your subscription, if we did not receive your change of address request at least two months prior to your next issue's release date.
Subscription issues should arrive within the first week of the month your publication is released. Please add up to two weeks for international delivery.
If your magazine has not arrived by the 20th of the month, please contact our customer service department, so we can check to make sure nothing is amiss with your subscription, and see if you're eligible for a replacement copy. International subscribers can receive a digital version of the magazine as a replacement if one attempt has already been made to deliver the print edition to you.
