Jot it Down Quick and Colorful Handmade Journal Project by Rae Missigman Instructions:
1. Journal Cover
Cut 4 sheets of light weight cardstock to measure 10” x 7”. Fold each sheet in half. Neatly crease each sheet with a bone folder. Set 3 sheets aside, keeping one to work on.
Cut Mixed-Media Art Strip sticker in half, and attach to the top and bottom edge.
Cut 2-3 Mono Print Rounds stickers into ring shapes, and randomly attach. Add sketchy pen marks around your sticker pieces using a permanent pen.
Mix together Dina Wakely’s Night and Sky acrylic paint, add some water to create a colorful wash. Add it to the background. Add a touch of magenta paint by loosely brushing it on around the stickers. Let dry.
Stamp stems using the dotted line stamp from the Jot It Down stamp set. Stamp petals and flower centers using the raindrop and open circles stamps from the Boxy Blooms stamp set.
Stamp an open arrow and “journal this” arrow near the top.
Add white and pink detail marks using gel pens and paint markers.
Machine-stitch all around the edges with black thread.
Add splatter marks using a small paintbrush and the color wash.
Take remaining 3 sheets of paper, place inside journal cover, line up folds, and stitch together with black thread.
2. Bonus Envelope
Repurpose an old envelope, 5¼” x 7¼”.
Attach Mixed-Media Art Strips Sticker to bottom edge and wrap around the edges.
Cut a Mixed Media Mono Print Rounds Sticker into a ring and adhere pieces to the top edge of the Art Strip sticker.
Create sketchy pen marks around the stickers and fill in with color using paint pens.
Stamp the ringed flower from the Boxy Bloom stamp set, and fill in with color using paint pens. Add white detail marks using a correction pen.
Stamp the Journal This Arrow.
Splatter the front & back of your envelope with any remaining color wash.
Slip your journal into the envelope and wrap with more colorful ribbon.
