Homemade Fall Candle with 8 Scent-Sational Blends by Danielle Williams
With the weather cooling down and the sun setting earlier each day, it’s time to infuse fall-scented candles into your evening routine. There’s nothing quite like winding down by candlelight, and it’s a happy bonus when you can bring the autumn spirit into your home at the same time.
This basic candle recipe is simple and quick to make. All you need is a container, wick, wax, and whatever scent you prefer. When it comes to picking a scent, you can use almost anything: fragrance oil, essential oils, ground or whole spices, flowers, or herbs. You can mix the scent into the wax, or add the whole ingredients for a festive visual. Below, we’ve included a few of our favorite scent blends. Happy candle-making! Basic Candle
You Will Need
- Wick – Shop Candle Wax and Wicks
- Jar: small
- Beeswax pellets
- Container: medium, heat-safe/Double boiler
- Fragrance oil/Essential oils/Spices – Shop Essential Oils | Shop Dried Herbs
To Make
Place a wick in a small jar. Pour the beeswax pellets into a medium heat-safe container and melt in the microwave on 30-second bursts, stirring between each one. You can also use a double boiler. Add your desired fragrance oil, essential oils, or spices (we’ve listed eight blends you can try to give it a beautiful autumn aroma below). Stir for one to two minutes to fully incorporate. Carefully pour the wax into the jar up to the shoulder. Make sure the wicks are in the center of the jars, and hold for a few seconds so they stay in place. Let the candles set for at least two hours to solidify. To gift to a friend, wrap with a scrap of fabric and trim, and insert a dried flower.
