Spritzed and Stitched Journal Book Project

If you’re like me and have a fairly decent size stash of paper and cardstock, then this project is one of many ways to utilize them! I love pretty papers, and creating my own is so easy and fun with Shimmerz Vibez. All the colors are great individually, but mixing them together is a neat way to create your own artsy looking papers. I was playing with the sprays and mixing some fun colors and before I knew it, I had a pile of colorful spritzed cardstock. I was trying to figure out what to create or alter with the papers and decided to just take a pile of them, fold them in half and bind a book. What a fun and inexpensive book it turned out to be!

I used the Rolling In The Hay, Jeni B Bleu and Red-y Or Not Vibez on my papers. I love these vibrant colors! To get the dripping effect you just have to be a little “generous” with the amount that you spray and turn the pieces of cardstock as you go. Make sure you use a paper towel to cover your working surface.

After all the papers had dried I just folded them in half and stitched down the middle to create the book. Keep in mind - if you want to stitch on the cover, it’s usually best to do that before you bind the book! Don’t stitch through too many sheets unless you have a sewing machine that is capable of doing so, I’ve learned that the hard way in the past.

To alter the cover, I embellished it with some pretty colors of crafter's tape and added the birdie themed ephemera piece from the Daily Junque collection. I also did a little stitching on the cover to compliment the stitching on the bind.

For the final touch to the cover, I added some teeny alpha stickers to spell out “to journal.” On the inside pages you can add some extra artsy touches by stamping various designs here and there. I use the wrought scroll and holiday trim stamps.

How do I get published?

Thanks for your interest in our magazines! We encourage you to visit our Calls & Challenges  page to see what our editors are looking for.

Ready to begin? Here is where you can find our Submission Guidelines.

How do I change my address?

Our subscriptions ship directly from our printer in Wisconsin. For this reason, we need to be notified of your change of address at least two months before the next issue comes out, or it will be sent to the address we had on file and provided to our printer at the time it was due.

How to Notify Us About Your Change of Address
  1. Email the following to customerservice@stampington.com:
  • The publication(s) you subscribe to
  • Your name and new address
  • Your old address

2. Call to inform us of your new mailing address:

  • Toll-Free: 1-877-782-6737 or International: 1-949-380-7318
Mail Forwarded by the Post Office

If you forward mail to your new address through the Post Office, it won't apply to periodicals/your magazine subscription unfortunately. Also, since mail forwarding only lasts for a short time-frame, we request that you still notify us of your address change to prevent any service interruption to your subscription.

Stampington & Company cannot be held responsible for replacing "lost" issues from your subscription, if we did not receive your change of address request at least two months prior to your next issue's release date.

What if one of my issues doesn't arrive?

Subscription issues should arrive within the first week of the month your publication is released. Please add up to two weeks for international delivery.

If your magazine has not arrived by the 20th of the month, please contact our customer service department, so we can check to make sure nothing is amiss with your subscription, and see if you're eligible for a replacement copy. International subscribers can receive a digital version of the magazine as a replacement if one attempt has already been made to deliver the print edition to you.

Stampington & Company cannot be held responsible for postal delays or circumstances outside of our control, but we will make every effort to make it right.
