That Look of Otherness Art Journal Page by Sarah Donawerth
Our new Papaya Art clip art books are an endless source of creativity. I already have at least 10 art journal pages just waiting to be painted, stenciled, and embellished from the different designs. This first page uses the image “Night Shade” to create a pink and black art journal spread that is grungy and features a beautiful quote by Joanne Harris.
That Look of Otherness Art Journal Page Directions:
For this art journal, I am using a hardcover book. Mix Dylusions Bubblegum Pink paint and gel medium and paint the pages so that the text is still visible.
Type out your desired quote with a typewriter or computer-generate your text. Cut out and arrange on the left side of the page. Arrange your clip art on the right side. With the Stabilo pencil or a writing instrument, mark their approximate location.
Stencil around these marks with texture paste and the Marrakech pattern, spreading the texture paste on thick with a palette knife. Let dry completely.
Cover the whole spread with black watercolor, allowing the color to pool up around the stenciled designs.
Rub grey chalk pastel on a scrap piece of paper. Adhere your quote with gel medium and cut out. Arrange your quote on the page and glue down. Outline each line with the Stabilo All Marking Pencil.
Attach clip art. Rub grey chalk pastel over the clip art to blend it with the background.
