Stenciled to Inspire Canvas Project
Working with stencils is still a new concept to me. The more I use them, the more I really want to find new ways to use them in my projects whenever possible. After reading "Stencil Girl: Mixed-Media Techniques for Making and Using Stencils” by Mary Beth Shaw, I learned how to incorporate two or more stencils into one project — something I never would have thought to do myself. I used texture paste with the first stencil and spray ink with the second, creating a beautiful, textured look with unusual effects, which I love.
Stenciled to Inspire Canvas Project Directions
Prime the canvas with gesso. Let dry.
Stencil X Rows onto the background of the canvas using texture paste and a palette knife. Allow the texture paste to completely dry before continuing.
Start applying layers of acrylic paint in Lime, black, and white using your fingers and a dry foam brush to help reach between the crevices.
Once all of the paint dries, place Words Words to Live By stencil over the entire canvas, and then spritz White Linen Dylusions ink spray. Remove the stencil to reveal the words.
