Quick & Easy Festive Holiday Cards to Make in Minutes
Like most crafters, I have a long list of all the things I want to make by hand for the upcoming holiday season. I want to do it all – ornaments, gifts, décor – but always find myself short on time and in need of a shorter list. This year, I tried to be more realistic when writing down my crafting to-dos and focused on things I knew I could do with minimal materials and time. I settled on making my own cards and gift bags, something I knew I could do while enjoying a holiday movie on TV or listening to a festive audiobook.
The Festive Collage Cling Mount Stamps by Tim Holtz make it incredibly easy to create a card that looks like it has a number of stamped layers, when there’s really only one. The key is to stamping the image onto something that already has a faint pattern, like the ledger paper I used here. First, stamp the image onto patterned paper. Use a sponge to apply various colors of ink to the paper. Apply ink to an old pencil, and stamp dots onto the paper. Color the berries with red colored pencil to add a pop of color. When happy with everything, splatter white and black paint or ink onto the paper. Attach a metal word tag using twine, and adhere the stamped paper to a folded card or gift bag.
