Patchwork Paper Gift Bags

UPC:

As soon as I saw these Large Collage Strips from Tim Holtz, I knew I had to have them. The vintage-inspired patterns and ephemera are an artist’s delight, and the way each strip is color-coordinated makes them easy to use. When I sat down to play with them, I didn’t have a plan; I just grabbed some scissors and cut them apart. I looked down at my desk and saw that the pieces had fallen into something that resembled patchwork. The strips had landed in various orientations and overlapping one another. It was then that I decided to piece the strips together in a quilt-like piece.

To do create your own paper patchworks, cut a piece of cardstock to the desired size. Use a glue stick to adhere the strips to the cardstock. To keep the pattern interesting, I allowed some of them strips to extend beyond the cardstock and then trimmed off any excess once the glue had dried. To finish, I glued the piece to a plain gift bag. I had so much fun I had to make another one, and I think I might make a few more to create handmade greeting cards.
