Gypsy Style Travel Case Project
Travel cases are fun to alter and a great way to store just about anything or use as home décor. To alter mine I began with pieces of torn up vintage music paper and collaged the pieces onto the outside of the travel case using Collage Paugeas the adhesive and sealer. Once the case had dried completely I stamped around the edge of the front of the case using the Wrought Scroll stamp and Black StazOn. To get the same stamped look just randomly stamp the scroll image but don’t stamp the entire image, turn it around as you go and only stamp about ½ the image at a time. I found StazOn to be the best ink to use because the stamping is going onto the dried Collage Pauge.
The next step is to paint the black strip around the case, using the Claudine Hellmuth black acrylic paint and paintbrushes. The travel case has strip/groove around it towards the back and I thought painting it black would give it a nice contrast. I decided to cut off the original handle of the travel case and create my own handle using ¾" Black Twill Tape. I then used the same Black Twill Tape and added a strip across the front of the case using glue dots to adhere it. Then using some more Black Twill Tape I created a bow and glued it onto black twill strip using fabric glue. In the center of the bow I added a decorative flower brad that has a "faux vintage" style.
