These large canvas triangles are intended to be used for a banner, but in the holiday spirit, we decided to turn them upside-down and use the tree shape instead!
For the garland, simply glue or sew on strips of red fabric. You can use plain ribbon, fabric scraps, or — to make this project truly quick and easy — our pre-sewn, ruffled ribbon. You can easily achieve the ruffled look yourself by sewing a strip of ribbon in half and then gathering it.
If you choose to try the pre-sewn ribbon, you can use fabric glue to attach the garland strips. Once the garland is attached, sew on a few small buttons to resemble ornaments. You could also sew our Clipiola Italian paper clips on with a simple stitch for festive, creative-looking ornaments.
Once your trees are completed, display them creatively. Attach them to a strand of twine with small clothespins, or sew a loop of twine or thread to the tops and hang them on doorknobs, mantles, or an even larger Christmas tree!
Once the holidays are over, you can turn the triangles around and create an everyday banner that can be used throughout the year.
