Sweetheart Notebook Project by Kerri Winterstein
In designing this notebook, I wanted to come up with a Valentine that would be sweet, simple and something that the recipient would not only love to open, but would also love to use long after the holiday had passed! It can easily be modified to any size and can be embellished and personalized in endless ways.
I chose a piece of patterned cardstock from the Curio collection by BasicGrey and cut it into a size small enough to fit into the glassine bag when folded. (Mine ended up being 5.5" tall and 8" across when open.) I then folded some plain white paper and cut it down so that it would easily fit into the cover when folded. Before assembling the notebook, I used adhesive to add two white doilies to the cover – to add a bit of dimension! Using some coordinating twine, I used the Oyster Bakers Twine and I was able to easily "bind" the paper and cover together.
Looping the twine around twice and tying it into a bow completed the assembly of the notebook. I knew I wanted to add a bit more detail to the blank pages inside, so I chose some of our C R E S C E N D O h D O O h D L E S clear stamps and stamped the sentiments on the corner of each page in black StazOn Ink.
Once the ink had dried, I tucked the notebook inside a glassine bag and tied it up with a bit of seam binding! To make the tiny gift card, I simply cut down another piece of patterned cardstock using paper from the Curio collection, folded it in half and added a strip of pink tape . On the tape, I stamped a sweet sentiment in black ink. These simple notebooks can be made so quickly that you could easily complete a handful in an afternoon! Just think of how excited your loved ones would be to receive such a sweet, handmade Valentine.
