Spools and Jewels Project

No reviews yet
UPC:

Turn a 7gypsies shadowbox and wooden spools into a decorative jewelry display using a just a few supplies. Start by painting an 8x8 shadowboxwith white gesso and allow to dry.

Then paint three spools with the white gesso. Once the gesso has dried, paint a light coat of picket fence crackle paint and allow to dry. Using a liquid adhesive of your choice, glue paper onto the back/tray of the shadowbox. I used paper from the Cest la vie paper pad. After you have added the decorative paper you can glue the spools on. Use a strong adhesive (I used gorilla glue) which is available at most hardware stores. Any strong liquid adhesive is probably fine but just remember that you may hang heavier necklaces so you want it to hold well.

Around the inside edge of the shadowbox, add strips of the decorative washi tape. Accent the tray wherever else desired with the same washi tape.

Punch out three holes from the same paper you lined the shadowbox with and glue them to the ends of each spool. Hang your favorite necklaces or bracelets on each of the spools and display the box creatively on a wall or shelf.
