I was inspired to alter the cahier notebook using only minimal supplies in order to maintain its classic and simple charm. The elegance of the valencienne ribbon seemed like the perfect way to complement the soft nature of the notebook. I began by creating a small mixture of white acrylic paint and water for a perfect whitewash, and proceeded to paint a strip approximately two inches wide along the left edge of the book. Once the paint dried, I glued the valencienne ribbon over the top using glue dots.
For the finishing touch, just add a simple stamped word. I chose "je t'aime" from the French Phrases clearly impressed stamp set, and stamped it with my favorite black ink.
