Heart Hoops Project

Creating mini mixed-media canvases is a fun way to add some interesting, colorful décor to your walls. I decided to use embroidery hoops, inspired by a project artist Tiffany Johnson did for Faber Castell.

I started with the Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas 81/2 x 11 as my background. Using the Faber Castell - Gelatos Tool Set and gel sticks from the Faber Castell - Gelatos Mix and Match Tropical 4 Pkg, I mixed up two mists of color and sprayed them onto sheets of canvas. Making the mist is very simple with the tool kit!

After the canvas had dried, I stamped the Create with Abandon design onto one canvas and the Creativity Flows onto the other using Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad. On the larger canvas I stamped the Open Stitched Heart.

I stamped the same Open Stitched Heart design onto vintage text and cut out the inside of the heart and glued it onto the center of the stamped heart on the large canvas. Then I used the outside of the stamp heart image on text and glued that onto the smaller canvas.

In a few small areas on the canvas I used the Faber Castell - Paper Crafter Crayons Red and Yellow 8 Pkg to color in. Place in an embroidery hoop and hang somewhere inspiring!
