The Dyan Reaveley journal pages are functional and constructed with quality materials, fit to hold all your artistic musings no matter what medium you create with. Inspired by the colorful new book "Art Doodle Love", our Shoppe Manager Vanessa Spencer creates a vibrant journal page in her Dyan Reaveley journal with a pop of color and fun patterns.

She starts by stenciling the Diamonds Stencil design onto the left page with a bright purple paint, and then paints various parts of the two pages with the purple and a rich teal paint.

"After drying, the paint appeared far too bright for me so I actually decided to do some 'covering up' with a few layers," says Vanessa.

She glues down some torn vintage ledger paper on parts of both pages, then mixes some clear gesso with yellow acrylic paint and paints over the “brightness” of the other colors. The clear gesso mixture with the yellow acrylic paint (when dry) creates a really nice “tooth” for journaling, especially with a pencil. Once the yellow has dried she adds a very small amount of white acrylic paint in a few areas.

To add more texture and interest, Vanessa stencils parts of the Hexagon Stencil and the Well Rounded Stencil using a light blue acrylic paint.

After the paint dries, she stamps the large Circle Clear Stamp with black StazOn onto some of the outer edges of the pages. She experiments with stamps and spells “Gratitude” onto the bottom of the right page using the letters from the Scratch Alphabet Clear Stamp Set.

To tie all the artistic elements together, Vanessa adds a touch of washi tape on select areas of the pages.

Whether it’s daily, monthly or just every now and then; journal on your “Gratitude” page and write down what you are thankful for to be reminded of your blessings, great and small.
