Fly Journal Page Project by Pam Carriker

No reviews yet

Somerset Studio artist, Pam Carriker, showcases her extraordinary talent for creating mixed-media artwork in this vibrant project. Coordinating perfectly with her new line of cling mount stamps, Pam uses unique stencils by Stencil Girl to create an artistic and edgy journal page, infused with turquoise and emerald hues and layers of intricate painted details.

To create your own art journal pages, you will need a few basic art journaling supplies. Pam used a 90lb hot press watercolor paper journal page, but you can try using a moleskine or the Dyan Reaveley Creative Journal for a similar effect without the expense.

Try layering some vintage text onto your background using a medium of your choice for adhesive. Paint over the text using various acrylic paint colors, blending them on various parts of the page. To create a more transparent effect with the paint you can try diluting it with water or use watercolor paints for softer and more fluid strokes.

Once the paint has dried, stamp the wing onto the page, using either white acrylic paint or white gesso. Write ideas that strike your fancy or encourage your heart with your favorite art journaling pens, and for a bold accent against your bright colors, you can experiment with the white inkssentials pen to make your pages pop.

About the Artist:
Mixed-media artist Pam Carriker is also an instructor and author of two bestsellers "Art at the Speed of Life" and "Creating Art at the Speed of Life." She also writes a regular column in Art Journaling, titled "Art Journaling at the Speed of Life." To learn more about Pam, visit her on her website at PamCarriker.com.
