Distress Crayons Care Package Project
We recently introduced to you Tim Holtz’s Distress Crayons, and just like you, we can’t get enough of them. Our first attempt working with them, we created a set of colorful tags.
This time, we wanted to use a different color palette to see what we could come up with. This colorful altered box turned out just right.
We’d love to see what you are making. Share your artwork on Instagram using #StampingtonMade for a chance to be a featured artist on @stampington!
Distress Crayons Care Package Directions:
Use gel medium to collage Tim Holtz Postale Tissue Wrap onto a large ATC storage box. Let dry.
Dry brush over the tissue wrap with gesso. Allow some of the pattern on the tissue paper to show through.
Randomly add color to the box using Tim Holtz’s Distress Crayons. Lightly blend the color with a damp paper towel or use a baby wipe. Repeat until you are satisfied with the composition.
To add a bit of texture, apply purple Distress Crayon. Place Stencil Girl Numbers stencil by Seth Apter over the color, and then use a damp paper towel or baby wipe to rub away some of the color.
Use Distress Embossing Ink and stamp Tim Holtz Correspondence designs directly onto the box. While ink is still wet, cover with Raspberry Relique Powder. Use a heat tool to set. Repeat with an assortment of stamps from the set.
Randomly add Tim Holtz Sketchbook Tissue Tape. Then wrap the box with Baker’s Twine.
