And So the Adventure Begins— Color Burst Project

No reviews yet

Ken Oliver’s Color Burst watercolors just arrived in our offices and I knew that we had to create something bright and bursting with color right away. I transformed this white watercolor paper with plenty of warm color and grungy touches to create an edgy mixed-media project to use as a wall hanging, canvas, or even a card.

Project Directions

Stencil grid design onto a sheet of watercolor paper with Platinum Crackle Texture Paste using a palette knife. Let dry.

Add vintage book text to corners and background with gel medium.

Use watermark ink or Distress Embossing Ink and stamp image directly onto the sheet of watercolor paper. Cover with embossing powder. Use a heat tool to set.

Sprinkle some red, yellow, and orange Color Burst powder onto a non-stick craft sheet and spritz with water. Use a brush to apply color to the background. Add more or less water to create drips or to enhance colors. Let dry, or use a heat tool to speed up drying.

Stencil Well Rounded texture stencil with black acrylic paint using the Mini Ink Blending Tool.

Add word stickers.
