Weird is Good CD Suncatchers Project

No reviews yet

Dina Wakley’s new stamps capture all my inner weirdness. There are party hats, book text, and zany sentiments for me to enjoy with all the exuberance of an artist at play. This project required bright colors, courtesy of her new scribble sticks, and a slightly unorthodox approach CD recycling!

Weird is Good CD Suncatchers Project Directions:

Apply texture paste through stencil to the shiny side of a CD. Set aside to dry.

Stamp designs from the Weird is Good stamp setonto a blank piece of card stock with Archival Ink. Blast each stamped design for a moment with a heat tool to ensure that the ink is completely dry.

Scribble some color along the inside and outer edges of the circle with Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks. Blend with water.

Note: keep your scribbles and your blending loose for a more organic feel. The less precise, the better it will look.

Trace a circle on a spare piece of vintage book text. Scribble several colors to make loose, messy circles that are larger than your stamped design.

Trim stamped design and messy circles out and layer on the CD with a mounting square in between for dimension. For this project, I used leftover foam blending pieces.

Stamp sentiment onto a raffle ticket and adhere to the corner of your CD with bits of ephemera.
