Sirens of the Silver Screen Shadowbox Project

No reviews yet

With the Oscars in just a few days, I thought something to celebrate film history would be perfect. I love the old movies that seem to be made on the most fantastically grand scale. “Gone with the Wind,” “North by Northwest,” “Singing in the Rain,” “Notorious,” and “Some Like It Hot” are all movies that make me stop and stare just from the sheer scope and brilliance of the film. They make me laugh, cry, or even both at the same time. For this shadowbox, I tried to capture the elegance of the silver screen with our free clip art from the blog (download here).

Sirens of the Silver Screen Shadowbox Project Directions:

Paint entire shadowbox with black paint. Assemble with a bit of glue, then fill in any gaps in color with more black paint. Leave frame off of shadowbox.

With a makeup sponge or dry brush, apply thin strokes of silver paint to the sides and back of shadowbox and stand. If too much paint is applied, just use a dry paper towel to wipe away the excess.

Glue film strips to the sides of the shadowbox.

Apply Iced Enamels Medium to front of frame, sprinkle with German Silver Relique Powder, and set with a heat tool. Attach to the front of the shadowbox.

Download your free ephemera and size to fit in the 2 x 2” square of the shadowbox. Adhere to the inside with glue dots or adhesive.
