Insta-Scrap Hanging Frame Project

With the rise of the camera phone, capturing life’s special moments has never been easier. It’s also easy, however, to amass a huge library of photos on your phone that are soon forgotten and never looked at again. Adding to the tragedy is that moment when you switch phones and end up losing all those pictures and special memories. Salvage those precious moments, silly snapshots, and artsy pictures by printing them out, layering them with a pretty frame, and displaying them around your home, office, or workshop! Prima Marketing’s Insta-Scrap frames, with 180 frames in 12 different designs, give you lots of creative options to dress up your space.

Start by choosing your photos. You can use an app to place a filter over the images. Make photos black-and-white, put them through a sepia filter for a vintage look, or color-enhance and brighten them up for a more modern look. I used the Waterlogue app (for the apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) to create a watercolor effect on my pictures and then I printed them out. Once you’re done selecting, altering, and printing your images out, layer the frames on a deconstructed cereal box, trace them with a pencil, and cut them out. Using pop dots, adhere the cardboard backing to the frames and slip your photos inside (this makes them easily interchangeable). You can personalize the frames by using white gesso to stamp patterns and images directly onto them. I used s m i t t e n f o r h o p e Scalloped Border by Jenny Doh, Bloom Doodle Circle by Claudine Hellmuth, and All in a Row Circle Border by Pam Carriker. As a final touch, I added some Chit-Chat word stickers from the Tim Holtz collection and glued all three frames onto some white seam binding ribbon so that I could hang them.
