Go Where Your Heart Takes You— A Monthly Art Journal Project + A FREE Printable

No reviews yet

Join us as we embark on our year-long journal challenge. In January, we created a set of journal prompts that you can find here, in hopes to keep you inspired to create your own art journal that you can carry along with you no matter where you are.

February’s journal prompt was to work with reds, pinks, and whites in a new or unusual way. When I started, I knew I wanted to create a Valentine-themed piece that was a bit more edgy, and less traditional. As a bonus, I had already laid down some pieces on the journal page, which made starting less intimidating.

We’d love to see what you are making. Share your artwork on Instagram using #StampingtonMade for a chance to be a featured artist on @stampington!

Go Where Your Heart Takes You — A Monthly Art Journal Project Directions:

On the left page of a Moleskine journal, glue Project Life card to the page with gel medium, and then glue down a small glassine envelope over the card.

On the right opposite page, add vintage book text and a scrap from an Art Pops card.

Add a light layer of gesso to each page, and let dry.

Start adding strips of patterned paper and vintage book text.

Stamp hearts onto vintage book text, cut out, and glue to the background. Stamp quote onto a sheet of vintage paper, cut out, and glue down.

Add highlights of red paint using your finger, and the blending tool.

Continue adding scraps of patterned paper, Art Pops Tape, and corrugated cardboard until you feel satisfied with your composition.

Randomly stamp script text over parts of the page.

Use the remnants of paint left on the ink blending tool to create dots. Outline with a Fude Ball pen.

Add work stickers to an extra small grubby tag, and tuck into the envelope.
