Cottage Garden Journals Project

Using Angela Cartwright’s transparencies is an easy way to add interest and depth to a mixed-media project or a simple journal cover.

To begin, paint white gesso onto the covers of each Moleskine journal. After the gesso has completely dried, stamp lightly onto each cover, just minimally. I used unmounted stamps by Stampington, which are a cheaper alternative to wood mounted, and also don’t take up as much space in your craft stash.

Remember that when you purchase our unmounted rubber stamps, you will need to also purchase EZ mount foam sheets to mount the stamps onto, as you are essentially creating your own cling mount stamps. I also highly recommend a good pair of scissors for cutting the foam. The tonic scissors work very well. Use a clear acrylic block to stamp with.

I machine-stitched the transparency pieces onto each cover. I then added small chitchat word stickers for some short yet inspirational words.
