Even the most creative and dynamic artists fall into a slump from time to time. If you're finding it difficult to overcome a creative block, we recommend pulling out a journal and letting your thoughts run free. The practice of journaling is a great way to clear mental clutter and reignite inspiration. Below you'll find 3 of our favorite ways to use journaling to overcome a creative block!
How to Use Journaling to Overcome a Creative Block
1. Stream of consciousness writing
Grab a journal and a pen and just start writing. It doesn't matter what you write about. Let your subconscious lead the way. If you're struggling to get words onto the page, take a look at your surroundings and write about what you see. This exercise will clear your mind and make room for creative inspiration!
2. Make lists
If you're familiar with our publication, Bella Grace, you might already know that Stampington is a big fan of lists! Choose a topic and make a list. It can be a grocery list, list of dreams, of a collection or beloved memories. This is another useful way to make space for creativity.
3. Respond to prompts
Look up some fun journaling prompts or discover some of our favorites inside Field Guide to Everyday Magic. Prompts provide a great way to focus on a certain topic and express your own unique thoughts and perspectives through writing -- a creative exercise in it of itself!
