Mommy and Me Trick or Treat Bags Project and Daughter Izzy

UPC:

Creating trick or treat bags with a child is a great way to start building some excitement for the coming holiday! Personalizing it will make it all the more special (and unique). If you haven’t already picked up a copy of Create With Me then do so for lots of inspiration for more artistic adventures with children.

My daughter and I began by spraying our canvas bags with Adirondack Color Wash sprays. For mine, I used Wild Plum but you could alternatively use the Purple Twilight. My daughter used Sunset Orange. Allow the bags to dry for at least an hour. Using StazOn black ink my daughter stamped the Suzi Blu Party Girl image onto her bag three times. Then using the black StazOn again and some Cavallini & Co. number stamps she stamped the "31". Then I gave my daughter some sunset and twilight hand-dyed ribbons and helped her randomly tie them to the handles for decoration.

Since the purple on my bag was quite dark, I decided not to stamp and instead embellish with fabric. I chose some orange and white patterned fabric to keep it "Halloween" looking. I sewed a ruffled strip of the fabric along the top edge of the bag. Then I printed out a picture of my daughter from Halloween a few years back onto some sticky back canvas and then attached the picture to the center of the bag with a zigzag stitch around the edge.
