Rustic Chatelaine Necklace

This project was inspired by the Victorian chatelaine. It was a set of chains hung from a belt that women would use to carry their keys, thimbles, scissors, pencils, fans, or other useful accessories. Even Mrs. Hughes from Downton Abbey had a chatelaine to hang her housekeeping keys from. These jewelry items could be very practical or very ornate.  Many Victorian examples of the chatelaine had finely etched silver accessories attached. This rustic necklace brings back the trend with keys, inspirational tags, and even a message in a bottle hanging from it. Read the rest of this entry »
