Dina Wakley-Inspired Splatter Art Journal Page + Faber-Castell Giveaway!

February 17th, 2017

Dina Wakley-Inspired Splatter Art Journal Page I’ve been admiring all the bright colors inside Art Journaling for a long time. For the most part, my projects rely on deep browns, creams, shades of dark teal, and touches of pink. However, I challenged myself for this art journal page to think outside the browns box and create something with vivid colors and bright contrast. The end result is brilliant hues of green and teal that really make this art journal page pop. Dina Wakley’s stamps paired perfectly with the colorful and grungy splatters on the page, making this a winning combination of bright colors and grungy goodness. Read the rest of this entry »

7 "Novel" Ways to Use Old Books in Your ArtworkI’ll make a confession — I love to cut up books. It may sound barbaric, but there is something immensely satisfying about cutting up a book that you were forced to read in school, or a book that you totally hated.  These books find new life in mixed-media canvas, card making projects, and art journal pages. No scrap goes to waste and beautiful artwork is created in the process. Read the rest of this entry »

Celebrate “Gal”-entine’s Day with a Soap Making Party! + Free Printable Invitations & Gift Tags

January 27th, 2017

Galentine's Day Soap Making Party RoseI recently got together with my gal pals for a painting party. We ate pizza, got paint everywhere, and shared an evening of conversation and painting. At the end of the night, we all had a painting to take home, but better yet — we had memories of a quiet evening spent with the people we love most in the world.

For Valentine’s Day, it’s easy to remember our romantic partners and forget the girlfriends who are always at the ready for a phone call, gab session, or quiet coffee chat. During the season of love, remember to celebrate “Gal”-entine’s Day and give a little love and appreciation to all your gal pals. For this party, we decided to make some rose soaps with an easy melt-and-pour recipe. Our all-in-one kit includes everything you need to throw a “Gal”-entine’s Day bash for your friends, then send them home with a perfectly packaged party favor of handmade soap that they made with their own hands.
