Artist Paper isn’t just for paper crafting either. Our Artist Paper is ready for anything your mixed-media mind can throw at it. The paper is sturdy and will withstand paint, gesso, gel medium, and spray inks well. Add texture to all of your mixed-media projects by adding a strip of torn paper, or collage an entire background. For the sample above, cut the strips into 1/2” strips and tape half of them to a piece of paper. Weave the other strips together to create this mat that is a great foundation for mixed-media artwork. When you are finished weaving the strips together, just flip the entire piece upside down, tape across the back to secure the pieces, and remove the paper backing. Add a sentiment, photo, or paint to complete this textured look.

  1. I’ve been saving these artist papers for years. These are great ideas for using them! Thanks.

  2. Karen Woolsey says:

I use them when I make simple, little pamphlet-stitched books for note taking, etc. the paper is sturdy enough for the binding. I also make tags, out of them. Mostly I like collaging with them. Try looking at different parts of the paper, too. I like looking through a smal frame or photo slide, to block off smaller areas. Doing this finds many hidden treasures. I often use the hidden treasures in my collages.
