Creative Cards in 10 Minutes or Less!

To create these particularly pretty cards found in our most recent issue of Take Ten, it will only take you 10 minutes and a ton of enthusiasm.

Creative Cards

Project and photographs by Vanessa Spencer

Our Shoppe Manager knows that a card can add the icing on the cake at birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. Which is why she recommends assembling an army of already made personalized cards instead of making a last minute run to the store for your friend/family’s next big event.

To get started, our Shoppe Manager and several other Stampington sidekicks took a pack of plain white cards and added a light aqua background by mixing sky blue and yellow pastel acrylic paint. Then, for more colorful details with a hint of decoupaged imperfection, they tore and glued bright strips of Art Papers and tacked on patterned washi tape for texture. For an extra personal touch, you can add snippets of text to describe the person receiving the card. For example, “she was a creative soul” or “she decided to leap.” You can keep it simple with just a few words, or add more….it’s all in your hands! To create more depth, stamps and red paint tie the final look together.

  3. CindyK says:

Love these cards! I like to use added dimension to my cards by using objects not usually found on cards, such as candy wrappers, toothpicks for banner holders, paper clips, bits of wrapping paper, etc. The world is full of wonderful objects to add to art!

  4. Patricia says:

I can sure use these tips!! Thanks for the inspiration. I love to make handmade cards for every occasion but the time to create them almost always prevents me from doing so. Love these!

  5. I have been making aqua and red cards lately too!! How weird is that? I will be posting it to my blog later this week.
    Always inspiring to visit you!!

I like gluing fabric to cards. I use pre-made blank cards. I fold the card @ the fold. I run the card through my Xyron adhesive machine, getting adhesive on both sides of the card. Then I place a piece of patterned fabric (usually Wal-mart scraps, they are about $1 per 12″ x 12″ square)on my art desk. Open the folded card & press it glued side down on the fabric. Trim to fit. I then add whatever embellishments I want to the card. Voila!

  7. This is my second visit to this site. I am starting off a brand new project in the very same category as this blog page. Your post along with other contents here have provided me with a lot of useful info to work on.

  8. Renee Zarate says:

I love the color combos on these quick cards! They have the look of a true ART card. I love the turquoise with the red!!

  9. Laura Taylor says:

Cannot wait to try this! Love the instant gratification quick cards provide.

  10. Aleksa says:

This was a tough decision! I love every single project but I fell in love with these cards.
