I decided to draw on a unique concept (because it’s simply an amazing idea) that I spotted on the Design Sponge blog, but adapt it by using the 7gypsies library drawer to store my daily journal pages. Imagine in five years time, if you were able to look back and see what you did on January 10th every year? This project provides a great way to record memories, whether it’s a big event like a wedding or simply a trip to your favorite park or farmer’s market.
You will need a journal card for every day of the year. Cutting out the 365 pieces of cardstock may take a little while, but it’s certainly worth it! The other step that may take some time is stamping the dates onto all of the cardstock pieces, but this can be split up over time. I suggest creating a little assembly line by making some piles for the cards and doing all the months at the same time, followed by the days (all the 1’s for each month, then all the 2’s, etc.). For this project, I used a simple Typewriter Alphabet clearly impressed set for the names and dates with an assortment of colorful StazOn Inks.
You may want to alter the cards and embellish them just a little – or save this part for when the inspiration strikes during your journaling process. There is nothing wrong with gradually doing the cards throughout the year – this definitely does not need to be completed all at once! For my cards, I added a few very simple elements using some of my favorite stamps with colorful inks and a bit of decorative tape.
On certain days, it might also be fun to include a photo of a special event or even a sleepy Saturday afternoon at home.
