Casa Vista Palmiers Transparencies Two Ways Projects + A FREE Printable

We were so excited to rediscover Angela Cartwright’s transparencies that we created a kit with everything you need to create this project on your own. Use the palm trees, or “palmiers” in French, to create a grungy and shabby chic canvas, or decorate the front of a journal with a delicate floral transparency.

Palmiers — Casa Vista Mixed-Media Project Directions:

Collage an assortment of paper and vintage book text onto a sheet of watercolor paper with gel medium.

Dry brush white paint over the collaged paper.

Add bits of black paint.

Tear the tea bag into small bits, and add to the background with gel medium. Allow some of the black paint to be absorbed, adding a nice distressed look.

Allow the entire collage to dry.

Tear a glassine envelope in half, and glue to the background with gel medium. Use your fingers to smooth out any bubbles. The envelope may wrinkle a bit; this will help add some texture to your background and will slightly show through once you glue down the transparency.

Glue or machine-stitch the transparency to the background.

Allow the entire collage to dry again.

Stamp leaves to the top corners, and a flourish to the bottom. Stamp word directly onto transparency.

Note Card Pocket Project Instructions

Glue a scrap of book text onto the Moleskine Note Card Pocket.

Add a light layer of gesso over the text.

Glue or stitch flowers transparency to the front cover.

Stamp word.
