Midnight Blooms Mixed-Media Project

No reviews yet

As this piece says “great things take time.” Whether it’s waiting for the blooms of the spring season or completing a work of art, true acts of beauty are created over time and never overnight. It is through diligence that elegant creations are born.

We’d love to see what you are making. Share your artwork on Instagram using #StampingtonMade for a chance to be a featured artist on @stampington!

Midnight Blooms Mixed-Media Project Directions:

Collage the background of a piece of paper or canvas with Tim Holtz Melange Tissue Wrap with gel medium.

Lightly dry brush over the tissue wrap with gesso. Allow some of the pattern on the tissue paper to show through.

Randomly add navy acrylic paint to the background.

Add torn strips of vintage book text.

Add a bit of color to the background with Forest Green Distress Spray Stain; quickly rub off some of the stain with a wet paper towel.

Stencil Well Rounded texture stencil with navy blue acrylic paint using the Mini Ink Blending Tool.

Water down black, and then white paint, and then use a paintbrush to splatter onto the background

Use Distress Embossing Ink and stamp Christine Adolph’s Elegant Stems directly onto the background. While ink is still wet, cover with Wendy Vecchi Water Can Distress Powder. Use a heat tool to set.

To add some extra texture, brush a coating of 3D Gloss Gel over the page, using a stiff bristle brush to leave a grain in the surface.

Add word stickers for inspiration.
