“Joy to the World” is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I sing it every year, and I am encouraged and hopeful for the year to come. I know the song on every instrument I play, from violin to ukulele, and I love the message of hope and joy. It has a special meaning to me, so I decided to decorate my mantle with the sentiment to remind me to be joyful throughout the holiday season.

Joy to the World Blocks Project:

Whitewash each of the wood blocks with gesso.

Pick an assortment of papers from Tim Holtz’s Yuletide paper pad and Kaisercraft’s Home for Christmas paper pad. Trim the papers to fit your blocks (1.25 x 1.25”).

With embossing ink, stamp a letter onto each square and sprinkle with green embossing powder. Heat set with an embossing tool.

Adhere each of the paper squares to the front of your blocks with gel medium.

Distress the edges of each block with brown StazOn ink.
